Dear Parents and Guardians,

As Blanchard Elementary School's principal, I would like to welcome you back to a brand-new school year. I am delighted to announce that Blanchard School has embarked on an exciting journey of change aimed at increasing academic achievement and student engagement through a student-centered approach.

The 2023-2024 school year will be our first year as the Blanchard Academy of Visual Arts (BAVA). Blanchard is in the beginning stages of implementing a visual arts program that will allow all students to experience and explore art through different techniques, mediums, cultural backgrounds, and software. Our goal is for students to experience art instruction from an itinerant teacher in our new art studio. In addition, students will also receive art instruction from Art Trek. During the school year, teachers will participate in professional development on art integration, focusing on student engagement in a creative process that connects an art form and another subject area while concentrating on California state standards. Teachers have also received professional development to increase academic achievement and student engagement. Along with our new preschool, we have added a transitional kindergarten class, a special education class, and a self-contained 6th-grade class. We are very excited about all the recent changes and additions to Blanchard!

As we start the new school year, I encourage all parents to download the parent square app as it is our primary source of communication. Parent Square is also the primary method of communication between parents and teachers. Please keep in regular contact with your child's teacher, as this is key to student success. Lastly, please remember that all parents are required to register their students online. Parents and guardians, please remember to re-enroll your child online via Parent Connection.
